Instrumentalists
Instrumentalists play a unique role in assisting the congregation to sing at Mass by helping contribute to the beauty of the Mass.
There are many opportunities for instrumentalists to serve in Music Ministry at St. Mary of the Knobs. Whatever your choice of instrument, whether it be flute, clarinet, guitar, bass, or brass, there is a place for you in the ensemble. The very exposed nature of playing an instrument at Mass requires that players have a strong sense of rhythm and intonation.
Cantor
A cantor is an experienced singer who, while remaining a part of the congregation, leads the people in the singing of the liturgy. The cantor is not a soloist. The cantor sings with the congregation. By beginning each hymn with a firm, clear voice, at a reasonable pitch and an appropriate tempo, they indicate the melody, pitch and rhythm to be used, enabling all those present to sing together.
Choir
The role of the Choir is to ultimately help lead the congregation to a higher form of prayer. If you enjoy singing, especially God's praises in harmony with complementing voices, this is the group for you.
Handbell Choir
If singing isn't your gift, perhaps ringing bells are. A handbell ensemble is an ideal place for individuals to begin in music ministry and to help members see the value of their participation in the church.
